Casa Barotti – An Authentic Focacceria in Berkeley Passes the Torch

Andy Mirabell of Restaurant Realty Company is proud to announce the sale of Casa Barotti.

Casa Barotti was born out of our passion for simple, wholesome, and handmade food, just like you’d find wondering through the streets of Italy. This Focacceria was one of the first of its kind in the Bay Area opening in 2021 on coveted College Avenue in Berkeley.

This café’s offerings are always regional, fresh, quick and affordable, using all authentic Italian ingredients, as well as pouring Italian wines. The original owners are from Torino Italy and partnered to open this wonderful café. Although, this Focacceria Pizza, is not technically Pizza, they quickly climbed the ranks to be known as some of the highest rated pizza in the Bay Area. Within the couple of years the owners quickly realized the distance between themselves spanning from the US to Italy was difficult to manage, and they decided to put the growing business on the market. In January of 2024, they listed the business with Restaurant Realty Company and specifically, Andy Mirabell, as their agent. Andy had previous known the main owner, Daniele Carsano having mutual friends and acquaintances within the Italian Restaurant scene of SF and surrounding Bay Area.

Andy was able to locate a very quality buyer within a short few month and secured a full price offer. We were excited that such a young, yet accomplished buyer saw the growth and expansion potential of this Focacceria concept, called Casa Barotti. Melissa Palomino was the acclaimed Chef and Operations Manager for Limon Restaurants, a Peruvian concept that grew quickly from San Francisco and expanded all over the Bay Area. Melissa’s skills as a chef along with her management prowess suit her perfectly to takeover and expand the Casa Barotti brand. Melissa’s diversity is second to none and she has graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in Napa, attended Berkeley, worked for Disney, and also currently works as a Principal Financial Analyst. Her operations will also be a Family Affair, being that her father, brother and sister in-law will all take part in operating this business and seeing it’s success grow!
